Last summer, I started working on a book I want to write about the history of hip-hop, but in a visual sense. So, being me, I usually start from any random vantage point and go from there.
In this case, I started sketching out various rappers to get a feel of what style I'd use to put this project together. What you see here is a collection of the ones that I thought were halfway-decent enough to be seen by the public.
I warn you - some of them may look nothing like their real-life counterparts, and I accept that. I think I've grown a lot artistically in the past year, and this is something that I can look back upon to see where I've come. I won't be reworking this particular piece, but I may do another like it somewhere down the road.
As for the project, it's on hiatus for now as other projects get taken care of. Hopefully after I finish my fourth year of university, I can get back into full swing and tackle that thing.
hey, Biggy looks good.... (as far as likeness and drawing). And i know this is most likely to offend you,...but i have to ask anyways: Where's Eminiem?? I know he is relatively new on the scene, but i think he's been very influential.
As a strickly metal/rock teen (you know the type), i opened up to artists like the Deftones, Rage Against the Machine, and even Jewel & the beatles!...and eventually got past the all the stupid BS and listened to a few hip-hop artists. Eminien is one of the major reasons i lost that stick up my ass!
anyways, i know this isn't a musical debate!
I don't know D-Roc but that portrait's got a lot of character, what a cutie!

See... the Eminem sketch just looked HORRIBLE to me - so I left it out. I'm sure I'll be doing one of him sooner or later anyway. Probably a portrait instead of a sketch.
